Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president of Fordham, joined the University’s Board of Trustees, members of the financial industry and faculty in hosting a celebratory dinner on May 29 for E. Gerald Corrigan, Ph.D., (GSAS ’65, ’71), whose gift has created the Corrigan Chair in International Business and Finance, an endowed professorship in the Graduate School of Business Administration.
“Mr. Corrigan is a towering figure in the world of finance. Both in his tenure at the New York Federal Reserve and Goldman Sachs, he has established for himself a reputation for being one of the wisest and most honest men in international business,” said Father McShane. “Therefore, the fact that he chose to establish the E. Gerald Corrigan, Ph.D. Chair in International Business and Finance is especially gratifying.”
The Corrigan chair will bolster Fordham’s reputation as a global business center focusing on economic and business research and policy. The gift further endows the E. Gerald Corrigan Endowed Scholarship Fund at Fordham College at Rose Hill, which has provided financial support to minority students for nearly a decade.
Corrigan received his master’s and doctoral degrees in economics from Fordham’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. He is a former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and a managing director of Goldman Sachs.
