Dear Members of the Campus Community:
Here are this week’s five things you need to know about Fordham’s COVID-19 precautions, vaccinations, and University operations:
- In the last 14 days 17 people in the University community tested positive for COVID-19, an overall on-ground positivity rate of 0.23%, as listed on the University dashboard.
- According to the CDC, Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are 94% effective against COVID-19 hospitalization among fully vaccinated adults, and 64% effective among partially vaccinated adults, aged ≥65 years.
- The American College Health Association recommends COVID-19 vaccinations for all on-campus college students in fall 2021, recognizing that “comprehensive COVID-19 vaccination is the most effective way for institutions of higher education to return to a safe, robust on-campus experience for students in fall semester 2021.”
- A short video message from the New York City Department of Health urges everyone to be vaccinated. “With care for your health, love for our communities and trust in the science that we want all New Yorkers to know that the COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective and save lives.” Most New York City vaccination locations offer walk-in appointments.
- On-campus vaccinations are available in May. Hours, locations, and other details are available here. The University continues to require masks in all public spaces, regardless of vaccination status.
