On Dec. 9, the Graduate School of Social Service’s Be the Evidence Project (BTEP) hosted a screening of the documentary “Mothers of Bedford,” which follows five incarcerated women struggling to maintain relationships with their children from behind bars. Following the showing, director Jenifer McShane and Mona, one of the women featured in the documentary, spoke about the film and answered questions from audience members. The event was held as part of the United Nations’ Human Rights Day, which has been celebrated globally every December 10th since 1950 to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and was co-sponsored by GSS’ Institute for Women and Girls.
