Now with President Tetlow coming in having experience with Loyola New Orleans and the NAIA championship, she understands the value of athletics, the value of student-athletes, and the exposure it can bring to an already very high-profile national institution. So all of the makings are starting to form, and I don’t think there’s any doubt that we could build something really special if we continue to gain the support of the alumni base, the fan base, as well as the administration.

Fordham report faults Jesuits for stressing discretion in handling abusive priests

A new report from the Jesuit-run Fordham University on the long-term impacts of clergy sexual abuse criticizes the global Jesuit religious order for placing importance on discretion when handling Catholic priests accused of abuse, instead of on discipline or prevention of further abuse. The report, released Jan. 26, summarizes the findings of 18 research projects that were part of a yearslong effort to better understand clergy abuse.

Chris Condon, former Channel 5 broadcaster in St. Louis, dead at 99

Chris Condon, a longtime broadcaster who created the mold in St. Louis for hard-charging investigative reporters, died Monday of pneumonia in New Rochelle, New York. He was 99.
He attended Fordham University. His studies were interrupted by World War II, during which he served in the Army Signal Corps. After his honorable discharge as a staff sergeant, Condon returned to Fordham and earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy.
