Voices Up! Tenth Anniversary Concert
Tuesday, April 30, 2019, 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Voices Up! is ten years old! To celebrate, the annual vocal series at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus will present a concert of new choral music by the C4 ensemble, praised by I Care if you Listen for its “consistently beautiful and balanced sound, excellent precision, warmth, and energy.” The evening includes settings by C4 composers Brian Mountford, Hilary Purrington, David See, and Bettina Sheppard of texts from the most recent winning volumes of Fordham University Press’s Poets Out Loud prize series: Julia Bouwsma’s Midden (named one of NPR’s Best Books of 2018) and Henk Rossouw’s Xamissa. The program also includes the premiere of Part Songs by the award-winning composer Lawrence Kramer, distinguished professor of English and music at Fordham, and works by Shavon Lloyd, Kala Pierson, and Karen Siegel.
The concert is free to Fordham students and faculty with ID. General admission at the door is $25; advance tickets are $20.
