The Power of the Crucified: Insights from Liberation & Womanist Theology

Theologians have discerned the presence of the crucified Christ in oppressed peoples. They have wrestled with challenging questions about how to understand such crucified groups not only as victims but also as Christologically empowered agents of salvation. Drawing on the works of Ignacio Ellacuría and M. Shawn Copeland, this paper develops a liberationist, womanist perspective on the power of the crucified.
