Fordham’s Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations recently worked with the staff at Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. to secure a gift-in-kind opportunity for the University when the global healthcare giant announced it was moving its Nutley, N.J. plant. On Jan. 28, some 79 boxes and four pallets’ worth of equipment, mostly laboratory glassware, were donated to Fordham for use in University labs. Many of the glass instruments were handblown in what is, today, a dying art, said Amy Balija, Ph.D., assistant professor of chemistry. Balija enlisted students to help unpack.
