From the Office of the Vice President for Administration:
Dear Members of the Campus Community:
Here are this week’s five things you need to know about Fordham’s COVID-19 precautions, vaccinations, and University operations:
- In the last 14 days 185 people in the University community tested positive for COVID-19, an overall on-ground positivity rate of 2.52%, as listed on the University dashboard.
- At least 27 states have averaged at least 10% more cases each day this past week compared to the previous week, with the B.1.1.7 strain of COVID-19 spreading more rapidly in the U.S. The variant appears to be both more contagious and potentially deadlier. Please don’t let your guard down: by observing COVID-19 precautions now, you will be able to safely resume in-person connections with family and friends more quickly.
- As of today, Tuesday, March 30, New York state residents age 30 and older are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, and on April 6, all New York state residents age 16 and older will be eligible. The vaccines currently in use are highly effective against the variant strains. You may have questions about vaccines safety and side effects: talk to your healthcare provider—they can address your concerns.
- Faculty and staff who have been teaching/working remotely, and are returning to campus can request their VitalCheck account to be activated or reactivated by emailing hrvitalcheck@fordham.edu; students who have been learning remotely and are returning to campus can contact StudentVitalCheck@fordham.edu. Students and employees will have to submit a negative result from a COVID-19 test administered since the most recent testing deadline to have Vitalcheck activated.
- This summer the University will not host any external groups for events, classes, nor camps to help minimize the risk of exposure to the Fordham students, faculty, and staff on campus.
You are required to use VitalCheck to verify your COVID-19 status. For more information, please see the COVID-19 Guidelines on the web.
