Physics Colloquium: From Galaxies to Stars to Planets: A Research Journey

Kaitlin C. Rasmussen, Ph.D.,post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Michigan, will present “From Galaxies to Stars to Planets: A Research Journey.”

As an undergraduate, Rasmussen studied active galactic nuclei. Then, in graduate school, she studied metal-poor stars and the origins of the elements. Now, as a post-doc, Rasmussen studies the winds and climates of other planets. In this three-part talk, Rasmussen will discuss her journey from college to the present, as well as her research in these fields and what she learned along the way.
