SUMMARY:A Classical Look at the New York Botanical Garden
DESCRIPTION:Matthew McGowan\, Ph.D.\, professor of classics at Fordham\, will lead a very special tour of the New York Botanical Garden\, which is among the world’s most important centers for botanical research and one of New York’s most beloved gardens. This tour includes an overview of the history of botany\, discussion of the NYBG’s outstanding collection\, a visit to the rare book room with curator of special collections Stephen Sinon\, and very special access to the NYBG’s herbarium\, second-largest in the world\, with curator of botany Robbin Moran\, Ph.D. \nThe tour begins at 11 a.m. at the Mosholu entrance near the Metro North Botanical Garden stop and will be followed by lunch at the Hudson Garden Grill. \nThe cost of this event is $45 per person and includes lunch. \nA reminder email with additional information will be sent to you one week prior to the event.
