The Graduate School of Education (GSE) has received a $248,400 Teacher Leader Quality Partnership grant from the New York State Education Department for the fourth year of the five-year program in K-12 science teacher training.
The professional development program for elementary and secondary school teachers, directed by Ann Marie Ciarmella, M.S., P.D., assistant to the dean for special projects, includes training in both pedagogy and science content at Yonkers secondary schools, Cedar Place Professional Development School, and on the Fordham campus. Since its inception, the project has trained teachers from 33 elementary and 12 secondary schools, including all the Yonkers public schools and several non-public schools in Westchester county.
