More than 200 scholars will present research about Irish identity, traditional music, the Northern Ireland peace process and more as Fordham University hosts the 39th annual meeting of the American Conference for Irish Studies from June 6 through 9 on the Lincoln Center campus at 113 W. 60th St. The event is open to the public. Margaret Ward, author of Unmanageable Revolutionaries: Women and Irish Nationalism and more recently a biography of Irish feminist Hanna Sheehy-Skeffington, will give a talk titled “Gendering the Irish Revolution.” Maureen Murphy, a distinguished scholar and a pivotal contributor to the Irish Famine curriculum in New York state schools, will present “‘Me and Mamie O’Rourke’: The Irish in New York.” For a detailed schedule, go to www.fordham.edu/history/curtin/program.htm.
