lichtmannJuelly Lichtmann, assistant director of finance and administration at the Gabelli School of Business, died on Dec. 2.

Lichtmann, an employee of Fordham for 28 years, was a native of the Philippines. Educated at the University of Santo Tomas, she spent 10 years working in Manila as a purchasing assistant, quality assurance manager and a distribution center manager. She moved to Tennessee before settling in New York, where she began her career at Fordham in 1988.

As an administrator in the Gabelli School of Business and the University’s academic affairs department, Lichtmann worked in myriad ways in the background to keep Fordham running smoothly. She earned an MBA with a concentration in professional accounting at Fordham in 1995, and in 2008, she was honored with an Archbishop Hughes Medal for 20 years of service.

Her citation gave a glimpse into her time at Fordham:

“She handles purchasing, budget projections, tracking revenues and expenses, and many other tasks with patience and determination. Her knowledge of the financial systems and the inner workings of budgets are lifesavers. Her enthusiasm to help is contagious, and she is willing to help with issues and tasks well beyond her job description

“Words cannot describe the meaning that Juelly had for our school and the warmth that she shared with everyone she encountered,” said Donna Rapaccioli, Ph.D., dean of the Gabelli School.

“We lost a big part of our family today.”

Lichtmann is survived by her husband Jeffrey and her three sons, James, Thomas, and John, a sophomore enrolled at the Gabelli School.
