A book about new trends in theology written by a Fordham professor has won first prize in the Catholic Press Association’s annual book contest.
Elizabeth A. Johnson, C.S.J., Distinguished Professor of Theology, received the award for Quest for the Living God: Mapping Frontiers in the Theology of God (Continuum, 2007).
Through its awards program, the association recognizes the accomplishments and contributions made by members of the Catholic press in the United States and Canada. Prizes go to more than 60 books in 23 categories on topics ranging from children’s writing to social concerns. Winners are chosen by a panel of educators, academics and clergy.
Awards also are given to magazines, newspapers and newsletters.
In reviewing Sister Elizabeth’s book, the association called it an exploration of the divine that was “encouraging and appreciative of the presence of the sacred and the mysterious within our midst.”
Sister Elizabeth’s work was featured last year in Inside Fordham.
