NEW YORK— Fordham is hosting the sixth annual Ignatian Heritage Week to promote the University’s Jesuit and Catholic identity and celebrate its distinct tradition of education, from Jan. 29 through Feb. 3 on the Lincoln Center campus.
Initiated in 2000, Ignatian Heritage Week consists of a series of events, discussions and activities intended to help Fordham students examine the life and work of St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. Ignatian Heritage Week is also celebrated on the University’s Rose Hill campus during the fall semester.
The week will begin with a Fordham community Mass and will feature daily events, including a trip to the Loyola, Xavier, Faber rare books exhibit in the William D. Walsh Family Library on the Rose Hill campus, and lectures on “The Ignatian Style of Examining Your Conscience,” by Joseph Koterski, S.J., chair of the philosophy department at Fordham, and “Ignatius, Xavier and Faber: Friends in the Lord, Companions of Jesus,” by Joseph Currie, S.J., director of Fordham’ s Office of Campus Ministry.
