Archbishop Demetrios Chair in Orthodox Theology and Culture, gave the Virginia Farah Foundation Lecture, entitled “Violence and War: The Politics of Theosis and the Refugee Crisis,” in Thessaloniki, Volos and Athens, Greece on May 10-17, 2016. He presented in Athens a seminar paper, “From Sophia to Personhood” to Orthodox graduate students and scholars. Finally, he participated in a panel discussion of the Greek translation of his book, The Mystical as Political, at the International Book Fair in Thessaloniki. He was also appointed to the advisory board of the research project, “Postsecular Conflicts,” funded by the European Research Council. He presented “The traditional values agenda of the Russian Orthodox Church from the point of view of Orthodox theology,” at the opening conference on June 18, 2016 in Obergurgl, Austria.
