provost and professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, represented Fordham University along with Frank Werner, PhD, professor of finance, Michael Pirson, PhD, associate professor of management systems, and Carey Weiss, Gabelli School of Business Sustainability Initiatives Coordinator, at a joint session of the United Nations Global Compact and the United Nations Forum on “Principles of Responsible Management Education.”

Paul Kantor, PhD, A&S,
professor emeritus of political science, delivered the keynote address “The Shrinking Social Face of American Urban Policy” to the Conference on Perspectives in Economic Sociology at the University of Rome, Sapienza, in Rome, Italy on May 25.

Melissa Labonte, PhD, A&S,
assistant professor of political science, co-directed a 3-day international conference on Human Rights and Justice at The Hague Institute for Global Justice in June. She participated in another conference coordinated by the Academic Council on the UN System, which focused on the UN at 70, and was also a discussant for the pre-launch of the final report of the Commission on Global Security, Justice, and Governance.

Angela Alaimo O’Donnell, PhD, ADM,
associate director of The Francis and Ann Curran Center for American Catholic Studies, received a first-place 2015 Catholic Press Award: Family Life Category for her memoir Mortal Blessings (Ave Maria Press, 2014).

Joan E. Roberts, PhD, A&S,
professor of chemistry, was part of a panel on the impact of electric and natural light on human health at Building Energy Exchange in New York City on June 3.
