associate professor of pastoral care and counseling, was the keynote speaker for the October “Medical Grand Rounds” meeting at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, CT. His presentation, “Contemplative Practice and Healing: Insights on Neuroplasticity for Clinicians and Caregivers,” was delivered to medical and nursing practitioners, pastoral and spiritual care staff, and hospital administrators.

George E. Demacopoulos, PhD, A&S,
Fr. John Meyendorff Patterson Family Chair of Orthodox Christian Studies and co-director of the Orthodox Christian Studies Center, has won a Carpenter Foundation Grant, allowing for a year-long sabbatical for his next major research project, Colonizing Christianity: Prejudice and Sex in the Crusader East.

professor of communication and media management, published an article entitled “The Advocacy and Corrective Strategies of the National Football League: Addressing Concussions and Player Safety” in the Journal of Conflict Management.

Jeffrey L. Gray, ADM,
senior vice president for student affairs, presented a series of updates at the annual Jesuit Association of Student Personnel Administrators (JASPA) meeting for the organization in Los Angeles in October.

Janna C. Heyman, PhD, GSS,
chair of the Henry C. Ravazzin Center and professor of social work, was awarded the Walter M. Beattie, Jr. Leadership Award from the State Society on Aging of New York for being an outstanding leader in the field of aging in New York State.

Robert F. Hurley, PhD, BUS,
professor of management, was interviewed for an article entitled “Insights and observations on the decision to trust in both science and practice” in the Journal of Trust Research, Volume 5, Issue 2, 2015.

Joseph T. Lienhard, SJ, A&S,
professor of theology, delivered the annual Mullen Lecture “St. Augustine as Preacher” at St. Mary Seminary in Cleveland, Ohio, on November 15.

Kevin Mirabile, DPS, BUS,
clinical assistant professor of finance and business economics, published an article entitled “The Association of Hedge Fund Performance with Manager Location, Domicile, and Choice of Service Provider” in the Journal of Alternative Investing. He also pre- released the second edition of his book, Hedge Fund Investing: A Practical Approach to Understanding Investor Motivation, Manager Profits, and Fund Performance (Wiley Finance, 2016), and gave the keynote address at the New York State Society of CPA’s.

Aristotle Papanikolaou, PhD, A&S,
Archbishop Demetrios Chair in Orthodox Theology and Culture and co-director of the Orthodox Christian Studies Center, was appointed to the editorial board of the Scottish Journal of Theology.

assistant vice president and dean of students, served as conference chair for JASPA’s 5 Year Institute conference held at the University of San Francisco from July 12-16, 2015.

Lance Strate, PhD, A&S,
professor of communication and media studies, delivered the Fifth Annual Harron Family Endowed Chair in Communication Public Lecture entitled “Fatal Amusements: Contemplating the Tempest of Contemporary Media and American Culture” at Villanova University on November 3, 2015. He also published an article, “Media Ecology and the Systems View,” in the journal Systema: Connecting Matter, Life, Culture, and Technology.

Magda Teter, PhD, A&S,
Shvidler Chair in Judaic Studies and professor of history, presented the keynote address, “The Theological and Historical Jew in Jewish-Catholic Relations,” at a conference on Nostra Aetate in Lublin, Poland.
