SUMMARY:Alumni Chapter of Northern California: A Bronx Tale Theater Night
DESCRIPTION:The stage adaptation of A Bronx Tale comes to San Francisco! Broadway’s hit crowd-pleaser takes you to the Bronx in the 1960s\, where a young man is caught between the father he loves and the mob boss he’d love to be. Bursting with high-energy dance numbers and original doo-wop tunes from the songwriter of Beauty and the Beast\, A Bronx Tale is an unforgettable story of loyalty and family. \nAcademy Award®-winner Robert De Niro and Tony®-winner Jerry Zaks direct this streetwise musical—based on Academy Award-nominee Chazz Palminteri’s story—which The New York Times hails as “A Critics’ Pick! The kind of tale that makes you laugh and cry.” \nA very limited number of seats are available in the loge ($110) and balcony ($65) sections. RSVP by September 14\, 2018\, to secure your ticket.

SUMMARY:Punch Card Conference: “Value Over the Long Term”
DESCRIPTION:Are YOU ready to punch in?\nJoin us at this conference in New York City to support the project and its mission. \nOur goal at Project Punch Card is to foster long-term investment orientation among students underrepresented in the investment research and management business. \nPunch Card Conference:\n“Value Over the Long-Term”\nThe Project Punch Card Conference is the inaugural event for Project Punch Card\, a non-profit focused on long-term investment orientation. The conference will be all about the long term. You’ll hear from thought leaders in the value investing community about what it means to be long term-oriented. \nWhat is long-term value investing?\nHow is it different from other investing?\nDoes it provide an edge?\nWhy should one choose long-term orientation?\nHow can students think long-term especially while investing?\nHow should investors handle large drawdowns? When is the stock price decline due to a long-term reduction in the business’s value and when is it temporary?\nGreatest Hits Stories: Certain companies that were excellent long-term (20 years+) had several pitfalls and terrible stock return periods.\nIn the Best Ideas Presentations\, you will hear from the successful investors on their current investment ideas. \nWho is it for? \nWe expect a blend of portfolio managers\, investment advisors\, analysts\, and allocators (i.e pension funds\, endowments\, insurance\, FOF\, etc). Ideally\, we would like people from the target communities—women\, people of color\, or graduates of underprivileged colleges in the investment industry. Marketing and strategic partners such as CAIA Association may also be a material component of the audience composition. \nWhat is included? \nBreakfast\, full sit-down lunch\, coffee breaks\, and networking opportunities.

SUMMARY:A Consistent Ethic of Life 2.0: Cardinal Bernardin’s “Seamless Garment” at 35
DESCRIPTION:In December 1983\, at Fordham University\, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin of Chicago delivered a landmark lecture outlining what he called a “consistent ethic of life”—using the Catholic tradition to articulate a defense of life at every stage\, and in a way that could cross religious and political boundaries. \nPope Francis has given new life to the consistent ethic\, and this symposium will examine how the “seamless garment” looks in 2018\, and how it resonates with other faith traditions. Bishop Emeritus Gerald Kicanas\, who worked with Bernardin\, will deliver a keynote address to be followed by three respondents: Katelyn Beaty\, an evangelical author and speaker; Rabbi Jill Jacobs\, executive director of T’ruah; and Herb Geraghty\, an atheist who works for Rehumanize International. \nAdmission to this event is free. Please RSVP to crcevent@fordham.edu.
