SUMMARY:Religion and Resistance: Ignatian Spirituality and Social Activism in the Age of Trump
DESCRIPTION:Protest movements are emerging with a force not seen in decades across the country and on campuses\, engaging young people in particular. But is this wave of social activism having any impact? Is it possible to make a change? What can we learn from past social protest movements? What role does faith play in successful movements? And what can Ignatian spirituality and the history of Jesuit activism teach us about how to make change happen? \nThis event will feature a panel discussion among practitioners and experts in social protest activism and an open conversation with the audience.

SUMMARY:Alumni Chapter of Miami: 2018 Summer Volunteer Day
DESCRIPTION:We are partnering once again with Lions Club International to give alumni an opportunity to help local children and their families with their back-to-school shopping. Local Lions Clubs will be providing vouchers that can be used to purchase up to $50 in clothing and school supplies at the Walmart in south Miami-Dade. Volunteers will assist local children and families as they shop and help them use the vouchers at check-out. \nThis is a great opportunity to work with families in financial need and show the Fordham spirit in action. Financial contributions to this effort will be gratefully accepted by the Lions Club but are absolutely not required. Our hearts and minds (and legs) are needed to help with the shopping! \nRSVP directly to Luis San Miguel at lsanmiguel@bellsouth.net by Wednesday\, July 25\, 2018.
