SUMMARY:Fordham Strong: Los Angeles Alumni Unite for Wildfire Relief
DESCRIPTION:We originally planned to host a basketball watch party for our upcoming Los Angeles alumni gathering\, but in light of the devastating wildfires that have impacted so many in our community\, we’ve decided to pivot and reframe this event to better support those in need. \nThis will now be a community-driven gathering focused on providing assistance to those affected by the fires. While the watch party aspect will still bring us together to celebrate our Fordham spirit\, we are now asking for your generosity in lieu of the monetary fee that was originally planned. \nInstead of an entry fee\, we are encouraging alumni to bring donations of essential items or gift cards that will go directly to those in need\, including:\n-Gift cards or cash cards ($5 or more)\n-Hygiene products (shampoo/conditioner\, deodorant\, soap\, toothpaste\, toothbrush\, etc.)\n-Personal protective equipment (PPE) \nWe hope that by coming together as a Fordham family\, we can make a meaningful impact in supporting our neighbors during this challenging time. We look forward to seeing you there\, and thank you in advance for your kindness and support. \nTogether\, we are Fordham Strong.

SUMMARY:Aid Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Aid Yoga© is an all-levels yoga class designed to teach students about stretching and relaxation poses\, and how to use these skills on and off the mat. Yoga is a physical practice that goes beyond teaching students how to move according to their comfort zones. This kind of workout teaches students how to regain control of their breathing\, how to trust themselves\, how to create a safe space\, and how to cope with a stressful event. The purpose of hosting Aid Yoga© at the Institute of International Humanitarian Affairs (IIHA) is two fold: to provide a free\, community event that benefits the mind and body of the students while also giving them tools to take with them into the humanitarian field or in life. The class structure will build onto itself and have a theme so that the more classes a student joins\, the more they will advance\, learn\, and improve their practice. No class will be the same. \nDate and time: Thursday\, November 14\, 5 pm – 6 pm \nLocation: IIHA Refuge Gallery located on the second floor in Canisius Hall. 2546 Belmont Ave\, Bronx\, NY 10458 \nMaximum capacity: Ten (10) people \nPlease bring: yoga mat\, water bottle\, notepad and pen\, and appropriate work-out clothing. \nInstructor: Lily Egan\, Communications Officer\, IIHA
