SUMMARY:GSAS Three-Minute Thesis Information Session
DESCRIPTION:Attend this information session to learn about the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) Three-Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition. \nThe Three-Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition developed in 2008 by the University of Queensland in Australia. The premise of the competition is to develop academic\, presentation\, and research communication skills. 3MT® supports the development of students’ capacity to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience. Contestants have three minutes to present compelling orations on their thesis or dissertation research and its significance and value. One PowerPoint slide is required with no animation permitted. 3MT® is not an exercise in “watering down” research; rather\, it forces students to consolidate their ideas and concisely explain their research discoveries. \nDon’t miss this opportunity to practice your presentation skills and have a chance to win up to $750 in prizes!

SUMMARY:Investing for Impact: Creating New Pathways for Growth
DESCRIPTION:Impact investing has been a topic of significant interest in the business and philanthropy communities for years\, but it has yet to reach the mainstream. For advocates of all backgrounds today\, opportunities are becoming increasingly available to align one’s money (and career) with one’s values. \nOur four panelists\, each an accomoplished professional in the field of impact investing\, will attest to their career in contributing to the shifting the narrative of finance. Investments no longer serve the sole purpose of producing financial results\, and each speaker will share how he or she has been able to create social and environmental impact through this new practice. \nOur panelists include Patricia Dineen\, Impact Investing Council Chair for EMPEA; Lisa Williams\, Vice President at Goldman Sachs (Imprint); Sris Chatterjee\, Professor of Finance here at Fordham; and Alex Healey\, a Portfolio Associate at Acumen. Fordham junior Max Lynch will sit in as moderator. \nLight food and refreshments will be served\, and business casual attire is encouraged.
