SUMMARY:Fordham-New York Press Club Journalism Conference
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for Fordham’s annual journalism conference\, which we put on in cooperation with the New York Press Club. It’s free for members of the Fordham community including students\, and there will be food\, swag\, workshops\, lectures\, and the chance to network with dozens of professional journalists. It’s a great day to celebrate the importance of journalism to our democracy. \nThe event starts with a continental breakfast from 8:30-9 a.m.\, followed by panel discussions and workshops. A keynote discussion with Guardian columnist and former New York Times Public Editor Margaret Sullivan begins at 1:15pm. \nPanels include covering protests\, immigration\, and climate journalism. There will be students and young professionals from the New York area attending along with dozens of professional journalists. Speakers come from news organizations including The New York Times\, The City\, The New York Post\, amNY\, and WNYC Public Media. \nAll are welcome. The event is free for current Fordham students/faculty/staff. Please RSVP by clicking the Register button above. Others should register through the New York Press Club\, where there is a small fee to cover breakfast and lunch.

DESCRIPTION:What role do mayors of major cities play in international relations? DESCRIPTION:Fordham’s Graduate Program in International Political Economy and Development (Fordham IPED) will be hosting a UN Side Event together with Catholic Relief Services and Caritas Internationalis on November 14 (Friday) from 9:30 AM-12:30 PM. The forum will commemorate the World Day of the Poor. \nMsgr Marco Formica\, Counselor for the Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations will be providing the opening remarks. Mr. Sean Callahan\, President and CEO of Catholic Relief Services will give the keynote address on the global aid crisis. \nFordham Professor Henry Schwalbenberg\, Ph.D.\, and M.A. IPED students\, Ms. Adriana Curto and Ms. Viviene Hirwa\, will be presenting the 2025 Fordham Francis Index Report. The Fordham Francis Index is a multi-dimensional poverty index that monitors recent global trends in Food\, Water\, Housing\, Employment\, Education\, Gender and Religious Freedom. \nThe event will be held at the Church Center for United Nations\, 777 UN Plaza\, corner of East 44th St. and First Ave.\, 8th Floor\, New York.
