How to Die in Oregon: Screening & Discussion of NY Medical Aid in Dying Act

Fordham University’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology, in partnership with Compassion & Choices, is hosting a screening of the documentary How to Die in Oregon followed by Q&A and a discussion of the New York Medical Aid in Dying Act. Compassion & Choices is the nation’s oldest, largest and most active nonprofit organization committed to improving care and expanding choice at the end of life.

How to Die in Oregon is an award-winning film that shows viewers real life experiences with Oregon’s Death with Dignity law. New York’s Medical Aid in Dying Act, modeled after the Oregon law, would allow a terminally ill, mentally capable adult the option to request medication from a doctor that the person can take at a time of his or her choosing, or never, to end the dying process should suffering become unbearable at the end of life.
