Fordham alumnus Ray McGovern (FCRH ’61, GSAS ’62) returns to Fordham’s Rose Hill campus onMonday, May 7, to give the keynote speech for the Peace and Justice Studies Program, Fordham College at Rose Hill, on his 27-year-career as a CIA intelligence analyst, speaking on “Unending War: In the Name of Justice, Where Do We Go From Here?”
McGovern, who graduated summa cum laude with a master’s degree in Russian Studies and served two years in the U.S. Army as an infantry/intelligence officer, is co-founder of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS), a group of current and former officials of the United States Intelligence Community who are concerned with the misuse of information to justify war. He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.
The Peace and Justice Studies Program provides students with the opportunity to address contemporary issues of war and the arms race; social, racial and gender equality; causes and resolution of conflicts and strategies for community and cultural empowerment. It draws its faculty advisory members from various departments of the University, and is currently directed by Robin Andersen, Ph.D., associate professor of communication and media studies. The program offers students a certificate in Peace and Justice Studies.
