In October 2011, Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington, FCLC ’77, made a $2 million gift to endow the Denzel Washington Chair in Theatre and a $250,000 gift to establish the Denzel Washington Endowed Scholarship for an undergraduate student studying theatre at Fordham. Tony Award-winning actress Phylicia Rashad was named the University’s first Denzel Washington Chair in Theatre. In the video below, students, faculty, and administrators thank Washington for the gift of Rashad’s teaching.
