professor of philosophy, gave a lecture, “Decoding Nietzsche’s Nets,” at the CyberNietzsche Conference on April 13 at Parsons The New School of Design. She also published The Hallelujah Effect: Philosophical Reflections on Music, Performance Practice and Technology (Ashgate, 2013).
Tom Beaudoin, Ph.D., GRE,
associate professor of practical theology, gave two lectures at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pa. on April 16. He also presented a paper, “The Third Largest Religion: Catholics Who ‘Deconvert’ by Leaving or Staying,” with J. Patrick Hornbeck, Ph.D., A&S, assistant professor of theology, at the biennial conference of the International Academy of Practical Theology in Toronto.

professor of communications and media management, presented his research
on consumer use of new technologies during the London Olympics to Northwestern University in Qatar on Feb. 28. He also participated in a seminar on cable television audiences with the executive management team at Al Jazeera America in Doha, Qatar on March 1.

associate professor of school psychology, published “Visual Skills and Chinese Reading Acquisition: A Meta-Analysis of Correlation Evidence” in Educational Psychology Review. She also presented a paper, “Train Bilingual School Psychologists to Serve in Culturally Diverse Communities,” with Su-Je Cho, Ph.D., GSE, associate professor of childhood special education, and a student.

professor of school psychology, along with three students, published “Religiosity/Spirituality and Life Satisfaction in Korean American Adolescents” in Psychology Of Religion And Spirituality.
Celia B. Fisher, Ph.D., A&S,
Marie Ward Doty Professor of Psychology, director of the Fordham Center for Ethics Education, and professor of psychology, was appointed a member of the National Academy of Sciences committee to represent social and behavioral sciences in proposed changes to federal regulations for research protections. She has also been appointed chair of the Society for Research in Child Development’s committee to ensure that any rule changes advance and do not impede the conduct of responsible research involving children and adolescents.

Manolis Distinguished Lecture, “The Ethics of Theosis,” at the Patriarch Athenagoras Institute in Berkeley, CA, on June 7 to 8, and “A Eucharistic Asceticism: Union with God in the Eucharist in the Theology of John Zizioulas,” at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia, PA, on March 18.

McGinley Professor of Religion and Society, presented a paper on the evolution of the sacrament of reconciliation and the seal of confession at a panel discussion at a symposium, “Religious Freedom in America: Bicentennial Reflections on People v. Philips,” at Glucksman Ireland House at New York University on April 12 to 13. He also presented “Islam Today” to Fordham’s retired faculty on April 11.
