Fordham University mourns John W. Mulcahy, Ph.D., LL.D. (GSB ’68, GSAS ’79), who died on June 29, after a long illness.
Mulcahy was a professor of economics at Fordham and a dean at Fordham’s business schools in the 1970s. In 1980 he left Fordham to become dean of the Business Schools and of the School of Education at the University of Bridgeport, where he spent the rest of his distinguished academic career.
His father, John A. Mulcahy, was an Irish emigrant and businessman, and a Fordham benefactor who served on the University Board of Trustees. Professor Mulcahy is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Mulcahy.
A viewing will be held at Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, Conn., on Tuesday, July 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. For details please call (203) 259-0824.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 6, at 10 a.m., at Saint Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, 84 Long Lots Road, Westport, Conn.
