Babette Babich, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of philosophy, has had her recent book, Words in Blood, Like Flowers: Philosophy and Poetry, Music and Eros in Hölderlin, Nietzsche, Heidegger (SUNY Press, 2006; paperback 2007) selected for a Book Session Panel at the October 2008 meeting of the Society for Phenomenology and Existential Philosophy. She also recently published a 64-page illustrated essay in German translation on the topic of ancient Greek life-size bronzes in the 2008 issue of the Internationales Jahrbuch für Hermeneutik.
Ron Jacobson, Ph.D., ADM,
associate vice president of academic affairs and executive director of academic programs at Fordham Westchester, was named in November to a three-year appointment on the board of directors of the United Way of Westchester and Putnam. Jacobson’s work will support the organization’s efforts to provide services and assist community programs that improve the education, financial stability, and health of people in the two counties.

Joan Roberts, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of chemistry and department chair of natural science, spoke at the 2008 Annual Conference of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, held Nov. 9 to 11 in Savannah, Ga. Roberts spoke to the second General Session on the topic of light and human physiology, as it applies to design.

professor of psychology, co-authored an article on “Psychology at the United Nations: A brief history,” in the current issue of Psychology International, published by the American Psychological Association.
Warren W. Tryon, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of psychology, and Charles Lewis, Ph.D., A&S, professor of psychology, have published “An Inferential Confidence Interval Method of Establishing Statistical Equivalence That Corrects Tryon’s (2001) Reduction Factor,” in Psychological Methods. Tyron also has published “Whatever Happened to Symptom Substitution?” in the Clinical Psychology Review.
