Civil rights organization ERASE Racism celebrated two Fordham graduates at its annual benefit in Garden City, New York, on June 11.

Lorna Lewis, Ed.D., FCRH ’75, president of the New York State Council of School Superintendents and the superintendent of the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District, received the Abraham Krasnoff Courage and Commitment Award (named after a key supporter of ERASE Racism) in recognition of her four-decade career as a leader in education equity.

David J. Gallo, GABELLI ’02, founder and CEO of affordable housing development company Georgica Green Ventures accepted the ERASE Racism Leadership Award in recognition of his and his company’s commitment to the idea that “people of all backgrounds deserve quality and affordable housing,” and that “affordable housing can complement all communities.”
