Patrick J. Ryan, S.J., Ph.D., ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor of religion and society and Lawrence J. McGinley Chair, delivered the Georgetown Lecture on Contemporary Islam in Rome, Italy on March 21. The lecture, entitled “The Call to Jihad and the Lure of Prosperity: Contemporaries Polarities in African Islam and Christianity,” took place at the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies, where Father Ryan is also teaching a course on Islam and Africa during the month of March.
